The Governors Ball Music Festival, which debuted in 2011 on Governors Island, has become a staple in the music festival scene. In 2012, it found a new home on Randalls Island, where it established roots for its future editions. However, the festival had to adapt to unforeseen challenges in 2020 when it was slated to take place at Randall’s Island Park. The global pandemic forced the cancellation of the event, leading to a relocation to Citi Field in Queens for the subsequent two festivals.
